Grace Legal was established in 2025 by Lisa Grace, who after 20 years in private practice (16 as a firm Partner/Director), decided to move into practice as a sole practitioner.
Our Story
Lisa hails originally from Dunedin, moving to Gore in her teens. She was dux of Gore High School before attending the University of Otago to graduate with her LLB and BSc (majoring in Anatomy and Structural Biology). Lured back to Southland by a 4th-generation local lad, Lisa worked first in Invercargill, and then in Gore since 2007.
Lisa and Mathew now live on a small lifestyle block at the foot of the Hokonui Hills, with three sons and a small number of pet livestock. When not working in the garden or watching her boys’ sports, Lisa can often be found exploring New Zealand’s backcountry, either recreationally, or as a Land Search and Rescue volunteer.
Lisa is the Presiding Member of the Gore Main School Board of Trustees, and sings in the Calvin Community Church worship team, and occasionally on theatre stages (being part of West Otago Theatrical Society’s performances of Annie and Mary Poppins). Prior governance roles include trusteeships for the Gore Parents Centre and Gore Kids Hub, and Treasurer for Local Vocals – Gore and Districts Choir.
